Mario Jacoby, Dr. phil.

1925-2011

Mario Jacoby was born in Leipzig, Germany. His first interest was in music, and at a young age he studied in Paris and London. As a violinist, he was a member of Zurich Chamber Orchestra.

He began his training in the Jung Institute of Zurich in 1956 and graduated in 1965. Among the others, his teachers were Marie Louise von Franz and Jolande Jacoby. Several encounters with Jung at that time, gave him the opportunity to pass on those valuable experiences to the present generations.

Mario Jacoby was a training analyst, lecturer and member of the Curatorium of the C.G. Jung Institute in Zurich. He had been giving lectures and seminars all over Europe, Latin America, the USA, South Africa and Israel.

Here, in Belgrade, we had a pleasure and a privilege to see him as a lecturer and supervisor from the year 2004th.. His presence in Belgrade during these years was a great enrichment for all the members of Serbian Analytical Society and wider public.

Numerous articles and books were published by this great author, among them were: The Analytic Encounter (Inner City, 1984), Individuation and Narcissism (Routledge, 1989), Shame and the Origins of Self-Esteem (Routledge, 1993) and Jungian Psychotherapy and Contemporary Infant Research (Routledge, 1999).

We will always remember him with the gratitude and love.
